This guide explains how assessment scores are calculated and the different ways assessments can be evaluated.
1. How assessment scoring works
Assessment scores are calculated by working out the maximum possible score for a template, for a supplier (given which dependent questions are triggered), and then calculating the supplier score as the sum of the responses they have provided. The ratio of the responses to the total score provides the percentage.
For example, if an assessment template has three questions:
- Question 1 (single list option): Answers worth 0, 5, or 10 points.
- Question 2 (multi‑select, cumulative scoring): Each selected option worth 1 point.
- Question 3 (single list option, dependent on Question 1, answer A): Answers worth 0, 5, or 10 points.
Supplier scores and percentages:
| Supplier | Question 1 | Question 2 | Question 3 (Dependent on Q1) | Score | Total possible | Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supplier 1 | B (5) | A, B (2) | Not asked | 7 | 13 | 53.8% |
| Supplier 2 | A (0) | B, C (2) | B (5) | 7 | 23 | 30% |
2. Ways to evaluate assessments
- Individual scorecard
Available from the individual assessment response screen (go to Assessments Dashboard, select a project, view assessments, then click on an individual assessment).- Shows a breakdown of supplier scores for each section.
- Displays the number of responses by category (Excellent, Satisfactory, etc.).
- Lists responses for each question.
- Comparison scorecard
Shows how a supplier performed against the average, both for each section and individual questions.- Helps suppliers focus on areas to improve performance.
- Enables you to focus on managing risk for that supplier.
- Question level report
Shows how responses to each question break down so you can understand trends.- Helps identify if most suppliers selected a particular option.
- Highlights areas of weakness in your supply chain where many suppliers score poorly.
- Outcome report
Available from the reports menu. Summarises each supplier’s performance.- Shows total responses by performance category (Excellent, Satisfactory, etc.).
- Displays average section scores compared to average total scores.
- Reports / Comparison scorecard
Available from the reports menu. Provides a statistical summary of responses for a template.- Shows how best and worst performance compares to the average for each section.
- Displays how each question contributes to these totals.
